When Ford introduced the Edge model, it made an immediate impact on those searching for an affordable, well-designed five-seat crossover. For 2019, the list of standard and optional features has expanded, especially in the high-tech and safety department. Two of the more popular trims are the SEL and Titanium. Both come with a turbocharged engine rated at 250 horsepower, eight-speed automatic transmission with a rotary shifter, and optional all-wheel drive.
The major difference between these two trims has mostly to do with standard interior features. The SEL is packed with amenities that will appeal to those who desire plenty of interior luxuries, but the Titanium goes a step further and adds on upgraded upholstery and standard features that are part of a package option on the SEL. Below, a more detailed comparison of the two trims follows.
Interior Comfort
Passengers will appreciate the size and configuration of the 2019 Edge?s cabin. The rear seats are spacious, the seats themselves are just cushy enough, and there are plenty of storage cubbies and pockets. The SEL trim boasts rear privacy glass, 60/40-split folding rear seatbacks, a height-adjustable driver's seat, power-adjustable front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Titanium is similarly appointed. Ride comfort is exceptional thanks to the fine-tuned suspension system, and wind and road noise are minimal.
Standard Features
The 2019 Ford Edge SEL trim is a step above the base model, and it comes with plenty of standard add-ons including an exterior keyless entry pad, dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic wipers, and upgraded cloth upholstery. There's an available Equipment Group 201A package that includes simulated leather upholstery, heated front seats, and LED daytime running lights. This package is included if the Titanium trim is chosen. The Titanium also boasts 19-inch wheels, a hands-free liftgate, and noise-reducing front windows. Front sport seats and ambient interior lighting is also included in the Titanium trim. The Titanium's driver's seat also has memory settings. Buyers will notice the upgraded interior upholstery trim as well.
High-Tech
The 2019 Edge SEL is pretty well-stocked with high-tech and safety features. Standard on this trim are a rearview camera, Bluetooth, and the Sync 3 infotainment system. This system includes an 8-inch display screen plus smartphone app integration and dual USB ports. The SEL also comes with a Wi-Fi hotspot and 4G LTE connectivity. Standard safety features include blind-spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and forward collision warning with automatic braking. These safety features are also included on the Titanium trim, but the Titanium adds on a customizable driver display screen. Other high-tech goodies found on the Titanium include a 110-volt power outlet, remote engine start, and a very nice 12-speaker B&O audio system that includes HD radio.
Both of these models are hot sellers, and they're on the sales lot and ready for inspection at Krieger Ford. Contact the dealer online or by phone to set up a personal inspection and test drive. The 2019 Ford Edge SEL and Titanium are fine choices for the family of four or five, and they're just as functional as an everyday commuter as they are a long-distance hauler.
